The story behind Passy
From a young age, Cain loved football. Not just the game, but everything around it. The smell of wet grass, the clicking of studs in the locker room, the tension before kick-off. Football is the sport that unites, and one thing was certain: Cain wanted to be part of it.
Like many others, it started with a dream to become a professional footballer. But it soon became clear that the talent was less exceptional than the passion. So it remained with Sunday matches in a friends' team.
But one thing never went away: the urge to do more with football. To not just stand on the sidelines, but to play along. To contribute. To change something.
And that opportunity came, unexpectedly, during a school project.
From frustration to idea
For the project, Cain had to write a business plan. Not just a theoretical assignment, but something that affected him personally. His thoughts went straight to the field: soles that tore, shoes that gave up halfway through the season. Buying new ones every time. Disappointed every time.
And he wondered: Why do we actually accept this as normal?
And so the idea was born for football boots that don’t give up until you do. Boots built for durability, not quick gains. Durability before marketing. Design without frills.
The idea was pitched, it got the highest grade, but more importantly, it stuck. It didn't feel like schoolwork. It felt like the beginning of something bigger.
Through the internet, Cain came into contact with Buddy, an intermediary from Vietnam who could connect him to suitable factories. Not long after, he boarded a plane to Ho Chi Minh City. Full of anticipation, sketches under his arm, and an idea that would not let him go.
Together with Buddy he walked from factory to factory, looking for a partner who understood. A few months later the first samples arrived.
And they were… terrible. The quality was far from what it should have been.
But give up? Not for a second.
Cain went back to the drawing board. New manufacturer, better materials, different approach. Months of testing. Fine-tuning. Testing again.
Until the moment came when everything came together: the first Passy boot that met all requirements and was ready for the field.
And then, on a mild Tuesday afternoon, the first delivery arrived.
A van pulled into the street, the tailgate opened, and there they were. Boxes full. Brand new Passy shoes. No more prototypes, no sketches on paper, no dreams in their heads—but a real product. In their own hands.
A dream? Yes.
But one that has been worked very hard for.
What makes Passy different
Passy is the only Dutch football boot brand.
And you feel that. In how we think, how we design, how we deliver.
Our shoes are built with the same vision as what we stand for as a brand: to go with the flow. Not for a while. But for a long time. So that you only buy new shoes when you are ready, not because you have to.
The sole is not only glued, but also additionally anchored to the upper with pin structure and double stitching. This way it stays firmly in place, even with intensive use. The upper is wear-resistant and flexible: designed for durability and comfort in one.
No hype, no fading colours. Just a shoe that does what you need, in a style that deviates from the crowd. Not made for the trend, but for the game.
Who we do it for
Passy is there for the striker who, at 38, still gives everything.
For the midfielder who prefers to play doubles on Sunday.
For the defender who knows his opponent by first name.
For those who play with passion, regardless of level.
Whether you play in the basement division or in full stadiums: at Passy you belong.
Welcome to Passy FC.
